Robbie Coltrane who played Hagrid in the hit fictional series Harry Potter is no more

His agent, Belinda Wright, said he died in a hospital in his native Scotland.

She called him “forensically intelligent" and "brilliantly witty" in her tribute.

He was a comedian and character actor with a rather baby face.

He played many roles including the half-giant Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies.

He also played the role of a crime-solving psychologist in the hit TV series “Cracker”.

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling expressed her grief in a Tweet on Friday.

She recalled that he was always her first choice for playing Hagrid in the movies.

His notable career included "Mona Lisa," "Nuns on the Run" and Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of "Henry V".

He is survived by his ex-wife Rhona Gemmell, two children Spencer and Alice and sister Annie Rae.
